Fancy and long double barrel percussion shotgun by Bentley, as marked on locks. 40" barrels. Metal parts have a medium to dark gray patina with faint striped finish on barrels. One ramrod pipe reattached to barrel. Fancy German silver patchbox and ramrod pipe. Barrel rib breech inlaid with silver hunting scene, muzzle rib inlaid with arrow, and rib engraved with scrolls and "London" in gothic lettering. Barrel breech inlaid with two decorative bands and has an engraved oval inlay in the breech part of the barrel rib. Left hammer repaired long ago with an iron strap. Right nipple is a modern replacement and a screw in the patchbox is a modern replacement. Stock shows average wear and use overall with a small crack above the front barrel key on the left side, a small sliver in front of each lock, a small sliver at the tip of the forearm on the right side, and scattered handling marks overall. Interesting ramrod has a wire and solder repair and a screw-on top that conceals a threaded post for cleaning tools. A very unusual and fancy shotgun that saw a good deal of respectful use over the ages. Both locks full-cock, but neither half cocks. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
