Wonderful C1850 "Poor Boy" Tennessee mountain rifle. 42-1/4" long 15/16" weight octagon barrel of about .36 caliber bore. Classic style with long iron tang and "grease hole" in right side of butt. Brass parts have a medium patina, iron parts have a dark rust patina overall with some pitting in the bolster area. Percussion trade lock with unreadable marking. Barrel tang was cracked long ago and repaired with a rivet, but came loose again. Stock is missing the toe plate and a piece of wood from the toe. Rear portion of stock is curly maple, very well worn with a dark patina. Forward 19" of forearm is a separate piece of wood that may be pine, it shows a good deal of age and has definitely been with the gun a long time, as evidenced by its wear and iron forearm cap. It is cracked and missing some worn pieces here and there. Mechanically good with set triggers. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
