Spencer contract Model 1865 repeating carbine by Burnside Rifle Co. Flayderman 9B-089. Serial number 16494. ESA cartouche of Springfield Master Armorer Erskine S. Allin present in the stock behind the ring bar plate. Equipped with "Stabler cutoff" device in front of trigger to select single shot or repeating function. Metal parts have an attractive brown patina overall with a period nickeled barrel band. Stocks are good, showing average wear and use overall with numerous minor handling marks, some pitting nicks in the lock mortise, and a long lateral grain crack in the left side of the butt in a thin area where the magazine channel runs. Magazine tube is present with good plunger and spring. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
