Burgess Gun Co., Buffalo, NY repeating 12 gauge shotgun. 30" barrel with fancy damascus finish. Andrew Burgess was a prolific firearms innovator who lived from 1837-1908 and worked for Whitney, Marlin, & Colt. He ran the Burgess Gun Company from 1892 to 1899 before selling out to Winchester. This unusual action was operated by sliding the pistol grip backward and forward to work the action. Metal parts are a mix of original finish and untouched rust patina. Stock has attractive patina overall with checkering on forearm and operating pistol grip. Buttstock has fine striped grain. Wood shows some handling marks overall but is free of cracks and chips. Action does not function. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
