NY unit marked M1888 Springfield .45-70 "trapdoor" rifle with rod bayonet. Serial number 548852. Marked in heel of buttstock "3D SEP.Co.", "95" in tang of buttplate, "3" and "95" in right side of butt, for the 95th rifle of the Third Separate Company of the New York National Guard. Metal parts have an overall untouched dark matte patina. Stock is smooth with some wear and use, showing some minor handling marks and scratches with one ding in the bottom of the left side of the butt, free of cracks and chips. Sunken inspector cartouche opposite lock with date of 1892. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
