early Springfield M1873 .45-70 rifle. Serial number 58080. New Jersey surcharged in stock and on receiver. Has straight first type features except for upgraded rear sight and rear barrel band. Metal parts have an untouched brown rust patina overall. Stock is equally untouched with a thick patina of added old oil finish, has a number of interesting stampings, with several worn deep bruises. Includes a correct .45-70 rifle sling with double brass hooks, leather is broken in one place and fragile in others. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
