Scarce Greene's Patent bolt action percussion rifle made by A.H.Waters of Milbury, Massachusetts. Only about 1500 believed to have been produced with 900 to a federal contract, a limited number possibly to the states, and a Russian contract of which no examples are known. Novel action that requires a turn bolt to be opened to insert a combustible envelope cartridge, then the percussion underhammer is cocked for a percussion cap to be applied. Gun was cleaned at some point by a past collector with surfaces acquiring a light patina over the years. Greene patent stamping on action tang. Stock was also cleaned to attractive smooth surfaces, shows a few scattered handling marks, and is free of cracks and chips. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
