Needham conversion Bridesburg rifle with Irish Nationalist markings - $1350.00

M1863 Bridesburg US contract musket, converted to Needham breechloading cartridge system. Has "O" below "BRIDESBURG" on lock and "IN" marking in stock opposite lock, both associated with the Irish Nationalist Fenian Brotherhood, which possessed this model when they attempted invasion of Canada to aid the cause of Irish independence. Metal parts have a dark patina with light pitting. Stock has a dark coloration and is uncleaned with well-pronounced edges. Wood shows a few old but moderate handling marks and scratches, a little stress cracking in front of the triggerguard, and some minor chipping to the cleaning rod channel. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
