C1840-50 Bedford County, PA smoothbore long rifle by Thomas C. Oldham. Has partial "T*O" signature on lock with the same loop line incise carving on the forearm and pointed border shape in front of lock as seen on fully signed Oldham rifles. 39-3/4" barrel of about .42 caliber bore. Nice uncleaned patina to metal parts with some expected pitting in the barrel breech area. Stock has a nice tight curly grain and a smooth appearance, was cracked and repaired in the wrist, crack shows the slightest wiggle but is pretty soundly repaired. Hickory ramrod. Does not have half cock, otherwise mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
