Frank Wesson "two trigger" sporting rifle, fifth type or New Model. Flayderman 5I-008. 24" barrel. Has usual Frank Wesson barrel marking with rare additional "REBORED AND RIFLED BY J.STEVENS A&T.CO.CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS." marking. Stevens offered the service in their catalogues to restore other makers' guns and promote their cartridges, in this case appearing to be .25 Stevens rimfire. Frame, triggerguard, and buttplate have very fine original nickel finish that shows just a little wear in spots. Barrel has very fine to excellent original blue finish. Buttstock is a nicely figured walnut that has an attractive "glow" in the light and fine surfaces that are free of cracks and chips, showing barely any minor handling marks. Equipped with a nice combination front sight, dovetail blank rear, and Lyman tang sight. Under the Lyman sight are two nicely beveled and tapped holes 3/4" apart, that look to be factory work for a different tang sight that may have not been the owner's preference, gotten damaged, or been updated at the time of Stevens' work. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
