Custom Marlin-Ballard No. 6 Schuetzen falling block single shot rifle. High-grade deep "perch belly" buttstock, period custom lever with checkered wood operating knob. Large vernier tang sight and windage-adjustable globe front sight with insert. Double-set triggers and large "Swiss" buttplate. Barrel is a .22 caliber replacement with Winchester "3" weight marking and "VP" proof on bottom under forearm, dating it to the 1930s or earlier. Many old calibers that weren't obsolete yet became so during the depression and simultaneously inexpensive .22 rimfire had improved to the point that it was becoming the choice of target shooters, so this would make sense for someone to have "updated" their rifle during this period. 30" barrel is finished in blue. Frame appears to be an old renickel, which shows a slight texture. Stocks are nicely checkered, shows hand wear to the forearm and some minor handling marks overall. Buttstock is finely grained with an attractive glow when it is in the light. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
