Eli Whitney "Good and Serviceable" .69 caliber percussion Enfield-style musket - $450.00

Please click the image for a larger version
Eli Whitney "Good and Serviceable" percussion Enfield-style musket. Most similar to Flayderman 5J-038, but with a .69 caliber smoothbore barrel 29" long. Marked on lock "E.WHITNEY", marked on barrel with proof "PW" and inspector initials "NR". Barrel tang has a plugged hole from having been built for an earlier model. Looking at the muzzle, the bore is off center in the barrel, a testament to the melange of old and new parts Whitney was using to build these muskets that were subject to less inspection than a federal product. Metal parts were cleaned with a light pitting to the iron parts. Stock is shortened to sporting style at lower barrel band, shows average wear and use with scattered handling marks, some of which are moderate. Hammer does not have half cock but does cock fully. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
