Prussian Germanic M1809 percussion musket. Important import musket early in the American Civil War. 41-1/8" barrel. "Saarn" marking on lock and regimentally marked on buttplate "141 28 J R 11C". Metal parts have a brown patina on iron surfaces with some old uncleaned light rust and some expected pitting in the barrel breech area. Brass parts may have been lightly cleaned at some point, but show a mellow light coloration. Stock shows average wear and use overall with expected handling marks, a lateral crack in the right side of the butt and some minor nicks to the ramrod channel edges. Original ramrod, missing sling swivels. Hammer screw was probably broken long ago and peened down to retain the hammer, a functional and well-worn repair. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
