Interesting primitive underhammer percussion militia musket. 42-11/16" round barrel with octagon breech, about 0.66" bore, equipped with bayonet stud at underside of muzzle. Metal parts are skillfully made but obviously done by hand, showing a dark patina overall. Stock seems to have been cleaned at some point, appears to have originally been made in two pieces, possibly for the purpose of taking it down to a shorter length for transport. Wood is sound, having a little crack by the forearm cap on right side and a small old filled chip in front of the buttplate tang. Trigger seems to release the hammer from half cock, full cock operates as expected. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
