Early M1816 contract percussion conversion musket by Asa Waters, dated 1820 on lock. Interestingly, this musket appears to have been converted twice; first with the cone or "Belgian" system, evidenced by a marking of a plugged hole in the barrel, then to a drum and nipple system. Appears to have traces of a "SNY" New York surcharge on barrel. Metal parts are mostly a medium to dark patina with cleaned lock plate. Stock shows evidence of having been lightly cleaned, worn behind middle band, small hairline crack by rear lock bolt. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
