Extrafancy Japanese tanegashima matchlock musket. 40-1/4" octagon barrel inlaid in silver with 11" long dragon with raised silver eyes, clouds, and family crest. Has a nice patina overall, lighter on the brass and darker on the iron barrel. Stock is inlaid with numerous cherry blossom ornamentations and escutcheons, and a chrysanthemum escutcheon. Stock is typical construction using a tightly grained exotic hardwood with varnished finish, free of missing wood, with a lateral grain crack about 4" long near forearm edge on left side near muzzle. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
