1828 dated flintlock Massachusetts militia musket utilizing early French proofed lock. M1808 style configuration with rounded triggerguard and three barrel bands. 42" round barrel with date and proofs at breech, barrel surfaces show some scattered old tool marks. Metal parts have a light to medium mottled patina overall with some pitting in the flash hole area. Sling swivels area absent. Stock shows light wear and use with scattered handling marks, with some moderate marks to the ramrod channel from being rested while being fired, and some marks by the lower barrel band spring. Rear of barrel tang shows a small chip and crack, crack by rear lock screw, and a small flake missing by the buttplate on the left side.
