C1750-80 Continental halfstock fine art fowling piece. 42-1/8" part octagon, part round barrel of about .62 caliber bore, barrel has swamped (flared) muzzle of about 0.87" outer diameter at muzzle and 0.76" outer diameter several inches back. Metal parts have a light coloration overall, inlaid woodland scene with deer at barrel breech, brass furnishings nicely shaped and engraved. Nice original ramrod with brass tip and covered screw on opposite end. Triggerguard has a crack in the bow and heel of buttplate is a little worn through from wear. Stock is nicely carved throughout, including borders around furnishings and decorative arabesque scrolling in wrist, around cheek piece, and barrel tang. Flared horn forearm tip. Cheek piece is inlaid with vines and leaves, with a small filled oval in center. Stock shows average wear and use with handling marks and a couple minor diagonal cracks in the forearm edges. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
