antique assambled US Springfield Krag M1896 carbine. Serial number 91886. Made in 1898, previous owner indicated in the month of April. Has M1899 handguard with "hump" to protect rear sight and stock is expertly crafted to resemble a M1899 carbine stock without saddle ring, but the bevels around the bolt handle show it to be a M1896 rifle stock. 22" round barrel. Blued parts have mostly fine to very fine original finish, showing wear on higher points in particular, casehardened and bright parts have a light to medium patina. Stock is very good, having been lightly cleaned with a light finish added. Wood overall shows minimal scattered light handling marks, and a long, shallow scratch on the left side of the butt. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
