Interesting C1840-60 percussion halfstock rifle marked "MOORE" on lock. Barrel marking above bolster obscured by pitting. 28" octagon barrel of .32 caliber bore. Elaborate adjustable rear target sight and gold-plated flip up round front sight. German silver mountings, pewter forearm cap. Metal parts have an uncleaned patina with some light rust on the barrel and pitting in the barrel breech. Stock shows average wear and use with scratches and handling marks to old added finish, a crack opposite the lock, and a small piece of wood missing above the front of the lock. Nicely made wooden ramrod has a hand-carved slot for wiping on one end. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
