Interesting contemporary bird's eye maple stocking of period Pennsylvania longrifle barrel, deaccessioned from the J.M.Davis collection. 42" unmarked octagon barrel of about .40 caliber bore shows plug on right side from where it was once in a right-handed rifle. Antique left-handed trade lock with H-arrow marking and simple engraving. Barrel shows brown patina with some expected pitting, other parts have a light patina, and furnishings appear to be a mix of period and contemporary pieces. Stocked in a contemporary style with the unusual choice of birdseye maple, the wood shows some degree of age, having some minor age grain cracks, but no significant problems. Trigger sets, but hammer won't stay cocked. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
