M1795 US Springfield Type III percussion conversion musket. Dated 1812 on lock and buttplate. 44-3/4" barrel. Nicely marked lock with eagle a little faint, good barrel proofs, script US cartouche in stock opposite lock, and unusual SN inspector mark behind triggerguard. Metal parts are a mostly medium to dark patina overall with some pitting present in the barrel breech area and buttplate. Stock shows typical wear and use for an early gun with numerous worn handling marks, has some little dings in the edges and mortises, a faint crack repaired in the wrist, and a visible crack by the rear lock screw. Has a nicely made antique replacement ramrod with a trumpet style head. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
