scarce transitional M1816 Harpers Ferry musket dated 1819. Wonderful lock markings and barrel proofs, also has "V" proof in the stock opposite the lock. 42" round barrel. Dark untouched patina on all metal parts with light rust and scattered pitting, primarily on the buttplate and barrel breech area. Front sling swivel is broken off. Interesting rear sight applied during the period. Interesting drum-and-nipple conversion to percussion with military-style hammer. Stock is good, showing honest wear and use with good edges, has some minor age checks by the buttplate, chip at rear of lock mortise, a couple minor chips by triggerguard pins opposite lock, small old flake in left side of wrist, some expected little slivers in the ramrod channel with one larger chip in the ramrod channel on the left side. Mechanically good except half cock deleted. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
