C1770-80 percussion conversion American birdseye maple stocked musket. 45" barrel of .71" bore. Bayonet lug present under muzzle of barrel. Barrel is British proofed and "RW", most likely for Richard Wilson Stock reduced to halfstock configuration. Brass blade front sight. Wonderful scalloped and engraved sideplate, other furniture parts are plain. Nicely shaped handmade American lock. Metal parts are cleaned with some pitting present on barrel. Stock has unique checkered beavertail carving at barrel tang, showing a couple little chips. Wood was lightly refinished, has a couple little chips by the triggergaurd pin, and some cracks and worn slivers to the forearm sides. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
