Winchester Model 86 takedown lever action rifle. Serial number 157192, made in 1920. 24" round barrel, 33 W.C.F. caliber. Good bore. Fine blue finish on barrel shows some thinning, other parts have a medium gray-brown patina. Takedown is mechanically functional. Knurled pattern hammer, steel forearm nose cap. Buttstock shortened to 12-1/4" length of pull, original hard rubber shotgun-type buttplate has had the "widow's peak" removed from the heel to make it flat. Buttstock and forearm show average handling with shallow dents and scratches with a empty screw hole on bell of butt, most likely from a sling stud. Comes with Cody museum search form. Ships to FFL dealer. Appears to be mechanically functional. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot. Before considering using this arm, we recommend inspection by a professional gunsmith.
