antique Winchester Model 1886 lever action rifle. Serial number 118044, made in 1898. 26" octagon barrel, 38-56 W.C.F. caliber, button magazine configuration. Fine bright bore. 75% thin original blue finish on barrel shows loss on edges with scattered freckles turning a dark gray-brown patina, receiver shows gray patina with some swirls of original color casehardening. Has widows peak style knurled hammer, steel crescent butt plate and forearm nose cap. Stocks show average handling with shallow dents and scratches, and a minuscule chip on top right side of wrist at base of tang. Comes with a Cody Museum factory letter confirming features. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
