C1820-40 New England halfstock rifle. Classic New England patchbox shape and triggerguard with pointed forward projection. Marked on lock "R.ASHMORE/WARRANTED". 36-1/2" octagon barrel of about .55 caliber bore. Metal parts have an attractive patina overall, with brass parts perhaps being lightly cleaned. Missing a small point from the tip of the patchbox. Stock is possibly cherry, nicely checkered in the wrist, and wire inlaid around the barrel tang, some of which is missing. Missing a small piece of wood at upper rear of lock and around the barrel tang, cracked in the forearm by the barrel pin. Hammer has spring tension, but does not cock. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
