percussion Pennsylvania halfstock plains rifle. No maker marks apparent except "BELL LONDON" on trade lock. 39-3/8" octagon barrel of .50 caliber bore and 1-1/16" width. Large bore and long range rear sight with elevator suggest possible western use. Untouched condition overall except replacement ramrod. Metal parts have a dark patina overall with rear lock screw escutcheon and barrel key escutcheon absent. Nicely shaped plain brass patch box, german silver running stag cheek piece inlay, interestingly shaped wrist escutcheon. Stock is untouched with an old added finish, has a couple minor grain cracks, numerous light to moderate handling marks, some chipping and wear to the lock mortise, and a worn sliver missing from right side of forearm. Hammer has spring tension, but does not cock. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
