US M1817 contract "common rifle" by Simeon North of Middletown, Connecticut. Standard lock markings with date of 1829, barrel proof markings, and inspector cartouche outlines opposite lock. 36" barrel reamed to a 0.61 caliber smoothbore during period of use. Nicely restored to flintlock configuration using quality reproduction parts. Metal parts are mostly cleaned to a light coloration overall with both sling swivels present. Stock has been lightly cleaned overall with numerous light to moderate handling marks, some minor chipping to the ramrod channel, has a small piece missing to left of barrel tang with some additional minor chips around the barrel tang, also has a small crack at rear of lock mortise with some additional minor chips around the mortise. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
