C1820-30 New England percussion halfstock longrifle. 42-3/4" octagon barrel of 7/8" width and 0.51" bore. Marked on lock "S&T BOLTON". Classic New England features including "teat" at front of triggerguard, shape of patchbox, style of engraving, and wrist inlay/escutcheon. Nicely engraved brass furnishings including a stylized "tipi" shape on the patchbox. Domed silver escutcheon in wrist surrounded by wire inlay and wire inlay around barrel tang. Barrel and lock have a smooth patina, brass parts have an attractive light coloration, probably having been cleaned at some point. Stock is made of a nice quality cherry, showing average wear and handling, has a small crack by the rear lock bolt and a chip with associated crack under rear of lock. Patchbox latch doesn't have spring tension. Lock is mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
