Massachusetts Arms Company Maynard primed belt revolver. Flayderman 7A-057. 200 of this model (20% of estimated production) was known to have been purchased and shipped to John Brown for use in Kansas. 5" barrel, .31 caliber. MASS Marked on top of frame "ARMS CO./CHICOPEE FALLS", Maynard primer door engraved with beautiful American eagle and patent information, with scroll engraving on lock. Metal parts have an honest medium gray speckled patina. Grips shows light wear and use with a couple stains from oiling the working parts during use, and a small filled chip to the leading edge of the left grip. Made without a ratchet revolving mechanism in order to circumvent Colt's patent, the cylinder is intended to be rotated by hand, a very unusual feature in a revolving firearm. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
