US M1842 percussion contract pistol by Aston, as marked on lock. Dated 1852 (last digit faint) on lock and 1849 on barrel. Metal parts have a mottled medium patina overall. Stock shows moderate wear from use, having a small crack by the rear lock bolt, a small chip/crack in the butt on left side, and a small chip in front of the lock plate. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
