Moore 7-shot .32 rimfire belt revolver. Serial number 873. Novel design where barrel/cylinder pivots to the right for loading. 5" octagon barrel marked on top "D.MOORE PATENT SEPT 18 1860". Early, pre-patent infringement suit gun without Smith & Wesson markings on barrel. Popular private purchase sidearm during the Civil War, with many known inscribed to soldiers. Typical quality craftsmanship from Moore with standard engraving on brass parts. Metal parts have a pleasing smooth patina with some silver finish on brass and free of handling marks. Wood grips show a moderate amount of wear from use, a small corner chip on left side, and a handling mark near the backstrap on the right side. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
