unusual early William Lawrence, Laconia, NH toplifter single barrel shotgun with full octagon barrel

William Lawrence, Laconia, NH single barrel shotgun. Unmarked, but has identical action to other Lawrence guns we have owned. This is the only one we have seen with a full octagon barrel, which appears to have been a muzzleloading rifle barrel, as it has a "blank" in the mortise where the rear sight was. Unusual action where the lever to open the barrel is lifted up, and has the shell extractor at the 4 o'clock position in the barrel breech. Piece has nice medium patina overall with a few scattered light old rust specks. 29" barrel of about 16 gauge. Stock very good, showing average wear overall with scattered marks and a couple scratches from handling. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
