Heavy 10 gauge American percussion double barrel shotgun by George De Binder of Philadelphia, PA. Engraved on triggerguard "DE BINDER/MAKER/Philada" and marked on bottom of each barrel "G. DEBINDER.PHILADA" with British proofs. De Binder is listed in Sellers' "American Gunsmiths" as George De Bender from 1855-1867. 30" barrels. Weight 10 pounds, 3 ounces. Metal parts are sharply engraved and show little use with attractive patina. Barrels are brown finished with swirling damascus pattern faintly visible. Stocks are nicely checkered with a varnished finish showing light handling marks overall, having a tiny crack above the left lock. Fine original walnut or rosewood ramrod with covered ball puller. Dragon engraved hammers. An unusually fine American shotgun that saw very little use. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
