Remington Eliphalet Remington 1816 Commemorative Flintlock Rifle. Marked on barrel "REMINGTON 50 Cal" and serial numbered ER1816-0343. Made in 1995 in limited quantities to commemorate the "first" Remington rifle, which was a barrel made by Eliphalet Remington at his father's forge, which he then had stocked by a Mohawk Valley gunsmith. This rifle represents a typical fullstock flintlock rifle of the period. It is a graceful design with a curly maple stock and thin wrist. Overall, the rifle is in near mint condition as made with browned iron parts and bright polished brass. The curly maple stock is satin finished and nicely shaped. The gun overall only shows a few slight handling marks to the stock only visible on close inspection, and the frizzen appears to have been sparked a few times. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, please consult with a competent authority on management of blackpowder firearms if guidance is needed to consider firing this arm.
