C1840-60 percussion muzzleloading curly maple fullstock Pennsylvania rifle. Leman Lancaster PA marking partially visible on lock. 37-3/8" octagon barrel. Standard quality brass mountings. German silver blade front sight and nice original long buckhorn rear sight lacking elevating wedge. Metal parts have attractive patina overall with some pitting in the barrel breech area and lock plate. Nicely grained curly maple fullstock is solid and sound with some small efforts at restoration; a piece replaced at the toe of the butt, two slivers replaced to forearm edge, some small chips filled at pins in forearm, and a little effort to place filler at a crack at forearm tip. This is an attractive rifle that could be made into a really showy piece with some stock work or left as is. Hammer cocks after trigger has been set. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
