M1836 US percussion pistol by R. Johnson, 1842, as marked on lock. Fine stock cartouches opposite lock. Metal parts are untouched overall with a mottled patina and scattered spots of rust. Buttcap is marked with an "XV" Roman numeral. Stock is fair, having numerous moderate handling marks, a crack in front of the lock, small crack by the rear lock screw, and a piece of worn wood missing from the rear of the lock mortise with associated small crack. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
