Allen & Wheelock, as marked on barrel flat, double action single shot bar hammer pistol. Also marked on side of hammer "PATENTED/APRIL 16,1845". 5" turn-off part octagon, part round barrel. Serial number 287. Metal parts have an attractive medium brown patina overall with light inactive rust that hasn't been cleaned. Wood grips have been refinished, showing a small filled spot on left grip above screw. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
