Scarce Andrew Wurffelin of Philadelphia conversion of a M1812 Springfield musket for the City of Philadelphia. Excellent lock marking with date of 1816. Barrel marked "CITY OF PHILADA", "A.WURFFELIN" and dated 1854. Metal parts have a dark patina overall with some pitting in the barrel breech area. Middle barrel band is absent, and ramrod is only 33-3/4" long. Stock shows wear and use with a wrist crack and dramatic period iron strap repair to the wrist and butt. The repair area has been painted and may have some wood filler present. Forearm has some minor chipping to the ramrod channel, and a flake missing behind the right side of the rear barrel band. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
