M1795 Springfield first type flintlock musket with vertical lock marking - $1850.00

M1795 Springfield first type flintlock musket. Earliest style c1799-1802 vertical "SPRINGFIELD" marking at rear of lock with script "US" in front of hammer with partial eagle marking. No date on buttplate, no stock inspector mark, barrel only marked with a deeply sunken proof that may be "M". 44" round barrel. Metal parts have a light patina overall, showing scattered minor pitting, with an interesting blacksmith-refaced frizzen that was riveted on. Stock is lightly sanded and refinished with minor marks present, a crack by the rear lock bolt, and a small crack at rear of lock. Mechanically good except releases from half cock, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
