C1770-80 American curly maple stocked flintlock musket. 41-1/2" part octagon, part round barrel equipped with blade front sight and bayonet stud. About 0.65" bore. English-style triggerguard has provision for sling swivel, which is absent. Sideplate and buttplate are repurposed, earlier Dutch-influenced pieces. This gun has been extensively used to the point there is a small hole eroded into the flashpan. Metal button-headed ramrod. Metal parts have light patina to the brass and smooth, dark patina to the iron. Curly maple stock has a bold figure to it and shows smooth wear, in particular, showing how the wood wears in the harder and softer areas of the grain. Wood shows some minor chips to the forearm edges and ramrod channel, a little chip by one stock pin, and slivers from both sides of the forearm tip, all well-worn. One ramrod pipe is absent. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
