C1840 militia musket/fowler with H-arrow marked lock - $250.00

C1840 militia musket/fowler. Marked with an "H" with arrow on the lock and an unknown proof mark on the barrel. 35-3/4" round musket-style barrel of about .69 caliber bore. Lock and barrel have an uncleaned dark rust patina, military type brass buttplate and triggerguard have a light patina, with sling swivel absent from triggerguard. Stock is well-worn with lengthwise cracking in the wrist area and a small piece of wood missing in front of the lock bolt. Barrel band spring is present with band absent. Barrel screw is a replacement and one triggerguard screw is absent. Mechanically functional, but mainspring seems a little weak, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
