Assembled civil war Springfield musket. 1862 dated lock plate from a M1861 musket and early riveted lower sling swivel. M1863 type hammer, 1864 dated barrel, and M1863 Type I barrel bands with screws. Metal parts have a brown patina overall with scattered rust and scattered moderate pits, particularly on the buttplate, which is very pitted. Stock has been cleaned and smoothed, with a couple smoothed dings in between the lock bolts and barrel band. The faintest shadow of the original inspector cartouche is discernible. Right side of butt has a little old paint on it and some scattered minor marks and minor nicks in the ramrod channel. 300-yard sight leaf was broken off long ago. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
