French M1842 percussion musket, shortened - $275.00

French M1842 percussion musket, shortened. 35-1/2" barrel, stock shortened to just in front of lower band spring. No markings apparent. Entire gun was painted long ago with black paint, which is flaked, showing patina surfaces. Breech has light patina. Stock is worn and shows marks and scratches, with a few chips on left side of wrist. Lower barrel band replaced with wire. Half cock is weak, but otherwise mechanically good. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
