P1853 Enfield musket, marked TOWER 1862, shortened - $550.00

P1853 Enfield musket, reduced to 2-band configuration. 29-3/4" barrel bored smooth to .59 caliber. TOWER 1862 marked lock. Butt marked with "Birmingham Small Arms Trade" rondel. Metal parts have a medium to dark patina overall with some pitting present in the barrel breech area. Rear sight and sling swivel are absent. Stock shows average wear and use with expected handling marks present, does not appear to have ever been cleaned. Tip of forearm shows period whittling from where it was shortened. Ramrod is an original Enfield style rod. Hammer has spring tension but does not cock.
