Please click the image for a larger version
Smith patent breechloading percussion carbine. Serial number 5136. Early so-called "Artillery Model" carbine with sling swivels instead of a saddle ring. Hammer screw, trigger guard bow, and breech latch finger plunger are absent. Old varnished appearance overall including barrel, which seems to have some underlying original blue finish. Has some light rust on the frame and some pitting around the nipple area. Stock is good, with a couple light cracks in the wrist, and some old recoil chipping at rear of top of frame, and two small screw holes in left side of wrist. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
