Richmond, Virginia marked double barrel percussion shotgun. Marked on each lock "T.W.TIGNOR" an on barrel rib "T.W.TIGNOR RICHMOND VA FINE LONDON TWIST". British proofs are present on underside of barrels. Similar to an example with history from the 1st VA Cavalry pictured on pages 140-141 of "Confederate & Southern Agent Marked Shotguns" by Prichard & Ashworth. 30" barrels of 12 gauge bore. Metal parts have a dark patina overall with some scattered light rust and light pitting. Barrel rib is partly lifted and shows some neat attempt at resoldering. Ramrod retaining clip on underside of barrel is absent. Stock shows average wear and use overall with much of the original finish on the butt, shows numerous minor handling marks and a couple minor cracks at the lock mortises. Action functions, but is somewhat worn. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
