J.H.Johnston, Pittsburgh, PA, as marked on locks, double barrel percussion shotgun. Johnston was the proprietor of "The Great Western Gun Works", an early catalogue merchant, selling all manner of sportsman's goods. Marked on top of barrel rib "LONDON FINE TWIST". 33" barrels. About 12 gauge bore. Metal parts are cleaned in places with mostly patina on the barrels and a cleaned spot on the barrel with some dings about 10" from the breech on right side. Ramrod replaced with a dowel. Stock is very good, lightly cleaned, with a repaired break in the wrist and some of the checkering freshened. Has a small chip behind the barrel tang and an age crack in the left side of the butt. Left hammer releases from half cock when the trigger is pulled, right side doesn't have half cock, right hammer cocks lower than the left, but both cock fully and hold, releasing when the trigger is pulled. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
