Percussion double barrel shotgun by L. Cromwell, Baltimore., as marked on locks. Levi Cromwell is listed as having operated in Baltimore from 1822-1880, quite a long career indeed. 34" barrels of average bore size. Marked on barrel rib "FINE TWIST". Metal parts have a dark patina overall with light pitting in the barrel breech area. Right side of butt has an unusual cap box with a high relief design of a rabbit. Stock has attractive grain, nicely checkered at wrist and forearm, shows scattered minor marks and some minor nicking to the sharp forearm edges. A nice, unusual shotgun from south of the Mason-Dixon Line. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
